"Daily shipping service for individual and commercial goods will commence on July 28, 2003", announced Mr. Hanns J. Hahn, General Manager of Discovery Cruise Line and Discovery Express Service. "This service was added due to the overwhelming request of Discovery Sun's passengers and small business owners, who have come to enjoy the convenience of shopping and returning with their goods from South Florida", said Hahn.

For the past sixteen years, Discovery Cruise Line has provided daily ferry service between Florida and Grand Bahama Island.Several months ago, due to the strict interpretation of the U.S. procedures, excess baggage service in its previous form was halted.Passengers were, however, still allowed to return with goods purchased for their personal consumption only, but not exceeding $2,500.

Since that time Discovery Cruise Line d/b/a Discovery Express filed for Vessel Operating Common Carrier [VOCC]tariff with the Federal Maritime Commission. This allows for Discovery Express to transport cargo onboard their vessel, the Discovery Sun.

New luggage and cargo procedures will come into effect.Bills of Lading and Manifests are mandatory with this new service.Warehouse locations at both Port Everglades and Grand Bahama have been established and are ready to accommodate the new business.
